The
Manyaran Indah Golf Course is the second oldest course in Semarang.
Initially, the course only had 9 holes and was designed by Jack Boyle
(USA). In 1983, the second-nine was added and today the course is mature
forest course with the tree lined fairways as its dominant feature. The
fairways and tee boxes are planted with cow grass, while the greens are
Bermuda.
The more interesting front nine is projected on hilly terrain west of
the clubhouse. The back nine is more flat and is situated on the east
side of the clubhouse, posing more challenge with hole 18, a treacherous
par 4 of 385 meters, being a handicap stroke 1 hole.
The opening hole is an interesting par 4. Your downhill tee shot needs
to land onto the rolling fairway and that normally creates a rather
difficult stance for a second shot to a small bunker guarded green that
slopes away.
The tee box of hole #4 is situated on the highest point of the course
and provides a terrific view of the entire course. Adjacent to hole #4
and hole #14 runs the majestic Kreo River, and the sound of flowing
water is ever present adding to the feeling of being in nature, clearly
a pleasant feature when this lovely course.
The club house, the locker rooms and the restaurant are old fashioned,
simple, yet sufficient.
